High School Principal of the Year Finalists Selected

The Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP) has announced the finalists for the 2023-2024 High School Principal of the Year. These exceptional educational leaders will contend for the prestigious award, recognizing their outstanding leadership and contributions to secondary education in Alabama.

Montgomery, Ala, November 7, 2023: Three high school principals have been selected as finalists for the Alabama High School Principal of the Year Award. David Diaz, principal of Satsuma High School in Satsuma City Schools; Gregory Moore, Jr., principal of Springville High School in St. Clair County Schools; and Rayford Williams, principal of Leeds High School in Leeds City Schools, are the three finalists for the award.

All three finalists were interviewed by a Principal of the Year selection committee at the 2023 AASSP/AAMSP Fall Conference on November 7. One overall winner will be chosen as the High School Principal of the Year, which will be announced in January.

Each AASSP district selects a district High School Principal of the Year. Three finalists are chosen from the districts’ selections. The district principals of the year were recognized at an awards ceremony at the AASSP/AAMSP Fall Conference on November 7, 2023. The district principals of the year are: 

District 1David Diaz, Satsuma High, Satsuma City
District 2Michael Crews, Geneva High, Geneva City
District 3Alice Jackson, Marengo High, Marengo County
District 4Drew Glass, Tallassee High, Tallassee City
District 5Rayford Williams, Leeds High, Leeds City
District 6Gregory Moore, Jr., Springville High, St. Clair County
District 7NSonya Kilpatrick, Lawrence County High, Lawrence County
District 7SDavey Reed, Haleyville High, Haleyville City
District 8Brian Sauls, Douglas High, Marshall County
