Legislative Action Center

CLAS is a leading advocate on behalf of public school administrators. It’s important that decisions made by lawmakers are informed by the experience and expertise of public school leaders. We give school administrators the information and resources they need to become effective advocates for their schools, staff, and students. Together, CLAS and school administrators craft policies that support the achievement and success of every student. CLAS constantly monitors and reports on all issues that directly impact Alabama public schools.

CLAS is tracking bills throughout the legislative session. Stay tuned to our Legislative Action Center to see the status of the legislation we're following.

CLAS Hill Days

Hill Day participants get an up-close view of the legislative process. The CLAS staff updates on bills affecting education and gives advocacy tips. You will hear from lawmakers who are invited to discuss pending legislation, hear about education issues, and answer your questions. Lunch will be provided by CLAS, and each participant is highly encouraged to invite his or her legislator to eat with us. After lunch, participants will spend the rest of the day at the Alabama State House. Participants will meet with legislators to relay CLAS legislative priorities, tell their personal stories, develop relationships with lawmakers, and watch the House and Senate during session.

Participants must be a CLAS member. Members who are superintendents, principals, assistant principals, directors, and other public school administrators are encouraged to sign up.
