RONALD PINSON NAMED ALABAMA’S 2021 PRINCIPAL OF THE YEAR SPONSORED BY AMERICAN FIDELITY ASSURANCE AND INTERIOR ELEMENTS

Clanton, Ala – February 26, 2021:  Mr. Ronald Pinson, principal of Chilton County High School in the Chilton County School System, has been named 2021 Alabama High School Principal of the Year by the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP).

Pinson has served a total of 21 years in education with the last 9 years in administration. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Auburn University Montgomery in 2000 where he later obtained a master’s degree in social science in 2005. In 2012, he received a master’s in instructional leadership from the University of Alabama.

The High School Principal of the Year award was presented to Pinson on Friday, February 26, 2021, at Chilton County High School. Chilton County Superintendent Jason Griffin was in attendance for the presentation. American Fidelity Assurance sponsors this award annually and Interior Elements grants an office makeover to the winner.

As principal of Chilton County High School, Pinson has implemented many programs and events which are student-centered, focusing on rewarding students’ accomplishments. Among the programs implemented during his tenure at CCHS are the Student of the Month, Academic Letter Club, Senior Led Conferences, Senior Blitz, PTO, and the Chilton County High School Alumni Hall of Fame.

Pinson’s educational strategy is to introduce programs to help bridge the gap between the community, parents, and the school. He credits support from parents and the community with an increase in student achievement which resulted in a 5-point gain on the school’s state report card score in just one year. Also, because of these community outreach activities, the school’s climate and culture have changed significantly in a positive manner.

Each AASSP district names a district nominee for the High School Principal of the Year Award. The district winners are:
