The Wolf Trading Card Company at Fayetteville School was developed to restore excitement for learning, strengthen school culture, and recognize character, growth, and leadership. In a post-COVID environment, Fayetteville School identified a need to re-engage students and rebuild pride and connection. The program was built on the philosophy “work hard, play hard,” encouraging students to take ownership of behavior, effort, and academic success. The Wolf Trading Card Company featured three types of trading cards: Teacher Cards, Wolf Spirit Cards, and Growth Cards. Teacher Cards were the most valuable and reflected each educator’s experience and contributions, creating excitement through limited availability. Wolf Spirit Cards recognized attendance, behavior, leadership, and school pride, reinforcing daily expectations tied to “The Gold Standard.” Growth Cards focused on progress, celebrating improvement in academics, behavior, and personal responsibility. Cards were distributed daily and weekly as teachers recognized positive choices. Students collected and traded cards and redeemed them for experience-based rewards such as competitions, club time, and school-wide events. Attendance incentives were also included through grade-level recognition. The impact of the program was significant. Fayetteville School earned a 92 on the school report card, recorded the lowest discipline rate in the county, and achieved the highest high school attendance, with discipline 74.5% lower than the highest school. The program also strengthened relationships, increased motivation, and created a unified culture where students took pride in their growth and success.
