AASCD Emerging Leader recognition. Recognition for emerging leadership in the field demonstrating effectiveness, drive, vision, and passion for the profession shown in the first fifteen years of service in education. Do not need to be an AASCD member. Coming Soon!
Truman M. Pierce Leadership Award
An award, given by the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators (AAESA) to an educator who has made outstanding contributions to advance the direction of education in Alabama. This award is given to an educator who has made outstanding contributions beyond expectations which advance the direction of education in Alabama. District nominations must be made by May 1. District nominations must be submitted in writing to the AAESA Executive Board at the CLAS Convention in June. Winner is selected by the AAESA Executive Board at the CLAS Convention in June. Presentation is made at the AAESA Fall Instructional Leadership Conference in November.
Bill Miller, Sr. Friend of Education Award
An award recognizing a non-educator who has made significant contributions to the field of education awarded by the Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators (AAESA). This award is for an individual who is NOT in the field of education, but who has made considerable contributions to education over the years. District nominations must be submitted to AAESA by May 1. District nominations must be submitted in writing to the AAESA Executive Board at the CLAS Convention in June. Selection is made by the AAESA Executive Board at the CLAS Convention. Presentation is made at the Fall Instructional Leadership Conference in November.
Secretary of the Year Award
This award honors and recognizes secretaries/administrative assistants for their hard work and dedication. Without them, our school systems and school offices could not run efficiently, and we want to show them our appreciation. Secretaries/Administrative Assistants who meet the following criteria can be nominated: NOTE: Nominator must be the secretary’s immediate supervisor. Have at least 3 years of service in a school or system office. Support the vision, mission, goals, and beliefs of the school system. Promote goodwill among fellow co-workers by maintaining a positive attitude and providing excellent customer service. Exhibit a good work ethic by being punctual in attendance and adhering to scheduled work hours. Perform work duties as assigned in an exemplary manner. Participate in professional development to improve work knowledge and skills. CLAS Secretary of the Year recipients are recognized at the closing luncheon at the Secretaries Conference each year.
CLAS Dr. James A. Street Award
The Dr. James A. Street Award is presented by the CLAS Board of Directors to a person, persons, institution, or organization in recognition of exceptional service in the interest of administrators and supervisors, and to public education. The Award may be in recognition of a single, significant contribution during a given year, or it may be for a series of contributions over a period of time. The Dr. James A. The Street Award can be presented to a member or nonmember, for exceptional service or achievement that furthers the cause of public education and the interests of school administrators. CLAS Little Red Schoolhouse Award
The Little Red School House Award is given by the CLAS Board of Directors to a person, persons, school, or school system that has inaugurated a significant curriculum or instructional innovation deserving of statewide recognition. The Little Red School House Award is given by the CLAS Board of Directors to a person, persons, school, or school system that has inaugurated a significant curriculum or instructional innovation deserving of statewide recognition. The program or activity should have a positive impact on the education of children, high potential for dissemination to other schools or systems, and demonstrate leadership in curriculum or instructional procedures in an Alabama school or school system. The “Little Red School House” is an appropriate symbol to recognize outstanding educational achievement.
