Professional Learning

Legal Defense & Support

CLAS offers a legal defense fund (Indiv/Inst members), sample contracts, contract review, legal counsel, salary comparisons, and administrative support to members.

Networking Opportunities

Networking is the second best reason to participate in professional learning programs. Check out our upcoming events for details.

Legislative Advocacy

Each winter, CLAS adopts a legislative platform to help communicate policy and budget priorities to state legislators. We also host Advocacy Days that provide CLAS members an opportunity for in-person advocacy during the legislative session.

Communication & Information

With weekly updates, a quarterly magazine, notifications about upcoming events, our members are in-the-know. We also maintain active social media accounts.

Awards & Recognition Programs

Finding ways to recognize and honor school and system administrators, schools, and other entities is one of the many ways we advance public education.

Affiliate Organizations

CLAS serves thirteen different affiliate organizations representing each type of administrator in Alabama’s public schools and school systems. They include:

Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP)

The Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals will serve as a voice and a resource for public school secondary administrators.

Alabama Association of Elementary School Administrators (AAESA)

AAESA’s mission is to serve as an advocate for children while striving to enhance effectiveness in the supervision and administration of elementary and middle schools.

Alabama Association of Middle School Principals (AAMSP)

The Alabama Association of Middle School Principals will serve as a voice and a resource for public school middle level administrators.

School Superintendents of Alabama (SSA)

School Superintendents of Alabama is the only association in Alabama for all school superintendents and members of their leadership team. There are approximately 1525 members, including 138 public school systems, individual, retired, associate, and business members.

Alabama Statewide Alliance of Instructional Leaders (ALSAIL)

Alabama SAIL (ALSAIL, formerly AASCD) is a diverse community of educators, forging covenants in teaching and learning for the success of all learners.

Alabama Council of Administrators of Special Education (ALA-CASE)

ALA-CASE works diligently to help members by providing input into the policies and practices in Alabama that impact the quality of education and support to the professionals who serve the students of Alabama.

Alabama Association for Prevention, Attendance and Support Services (AAPASS)

Active AAPASS membership consists of those current CLAS members who are presently engaged in work in the student services and support area in Alabama schools.

Alabama Child Nutrition Directors (ACND)

The Alabama Child Nutrition Directors supports members in their efforts to provide nutritious meals to students and school board personnel resulting in an environment where students, staff, faculty, and staff are encouraged to consume nutritious foods for improved health.

Alabama Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA)

The Alabama Association of School Personnel Administrators provides leadership in promoting effective human resource practices within education through professional development activities and a broad-based resource network.

Alabama Association of Career and Technical Administrators (ACTA)

The Alabama Association of Career and Technical Administrators promotes and develops Career Technical Education through mutual encouragement and assistance of members in the administration and supervision of local programs.

Alabama Leaders Advocating for English Learners (ALA-EL)

Alabama Leaders Advocating for English Learners strives to develop the professional expertise of its members and others involved in educating English Language Learners.

Alabama Association of 504 Coordinators (ALA504)

The Alabama Association of 504 Coordinators serve as a voice and resource for members in an effort to provide equal access to students.

Alabama Alliance of Black School Educators (AL-ABSE)

The Alabama Alliance of Black School Educators is a professional society founded in 2021. It is a state affiliate of the National Alliance of Black School Educators.
