PAWS-Peers Actively Working to Serve
Covington County Schools
Principal: Mrs. Carie Turman
Superintendent: Mr. Shannon Driver

The PAWS Club was a student-led organization dedicated to fostering community engagement, leadership, and personal growth. By participating in meaningful activities, students enhanced their academic, social, and emotional well-being while contributing to a positive school environment. The club had a measurable impact, with 28% of students participating, notably improving student attendance as members remained engaged in academics and extracurriculars. PAWS also boosted participation in school activities by fostering a sense of belonging and purpose, encouraging students to take on leadership roles and actively engage in school and community events. Through hands-on experiences, members developed real-world skills in communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. Networking opportunities and mentorship programs gave students a competitive edge for future endeavors. The club also opened doors to scholarship opportunities. Last year, two college scholarships were awarded to members who demonstrated exceptional commitment and leadership. These scholarships highlighted the club’s role in recognizing and rewarding community service. The PAWS Club strengthened school culture, promoted civic responsibility, and empowered students to be positive agents of change.
