AASSP Selects Finalists for Alabama’s High School Principal of the Year
Montgomery, Ala, November 12, 2024: Three high school principals have been selected as finalists for the Alabama High School Principal of the Year Award. Dr. Matthew Epps, principal of Shelby County Career Tech Center in Shelby County Schools; Dr. Kerry Donaldson, principal of James Clemens High School in Madison City Schools; and Bobby Tittle, principal of Cherokee County High School in Cherokee County Schools, are the finalists for this prestigious honor.
The finalists were interviewed by a Principal of the Year selection committee at the 2024 AASSP/AAMSP Fall Conference. The overall winner will be announced in the coming weeks.
Each AASSP district selects a District High School Principal of the Year, and three finalists are chosen from these district winners. The district principals of the year were recognized during an awards ceremony at the AASSP/AAMSP Fall Conference on November 12, 2024. This year’s district winners are:

| District 7N | Kevin Davis, Muscle Shoals High, Muscle Shoals City |
| District 7S | Adam Aldridge, Winfield High, Winfield City |
| District 8 | Kerry Donaldson, Jr., James Clemens High, Madison City |
Dr. Vic Wilson, executive director of CLAS and AASSP, commended the finalists and district winners, stating, “These outstanding principals set the standard for leadership in our schools. Their vision, dedication, and ability to inspire their communities are what make Alabama schools successful. Congratulations to each of them on this well-deserved recognition.”

The overall winner of the Alabama High School Principal of the Year Award will represent Alabama in Washington, D.C., as part of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) High School Principal of the Year program. The winner will compete alongside other state representatives for the title of National High School Principal of the Year, showcasing Alabama’s strong tradition of educational leadership on a national stage.
