AASSP High School District Assistant Principals of the Year Recognized

Montgomery, Ala, November 12, 2024 The Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals (AASSP) proudly recognized the 2024-2025 High School District Assistant Principals of the Year during an awards session held on November 12, 2024, at the AASSP/AAMSP Fall Conference. These exceptional leaders, representing each AASSP district, have demonstrated outstanding dedication to their schools, students, and communities.

The district High School Assistant Principals of the Year are:

Tony Rogers, Jr., Baldwin Preparatory Academy, Baldwin County

District 2

Drew Miller, George W. Long High, Dale County

District 3

Marcus Turner, Keith Middle-High, Dallas County

District 4

Beth Antoine, Auburn High, Auburn City

District 5

Mary Johnson, Hoover High, Hoover City

District 6

Chris Mills, Springville High, St. Clair County

District 7N

Clay Williams, Rogers High, Lauderdale County

District 7S

Rusty Clark, Winston County High, Winston County

District 8

Bayleigh Hicks, Virgil Grissom High, Huntsville City

One of these distinguished district winners will be selected as the 2024-2025 AASSP High School Assistant Principal of the Year, with the announcement expected in the coming weeks. This statewide honor highlights exemplary leadership and commitment to educational excellence in Alabama’s high schools.

Dr. Vic Wilson, executive director of CLAS and AASSP, emphasized the importance of this recognition, stating, “Each of these leaders plays a pivotal role in shaping the success of their schools and communities. They embody what it means to be servant leaders, and their dedication inspires those around them. Congratulations to these remarkable assistant principals, and we look forward to celebrating the statewide winner soon.”

The overall winner of the 2024-2025 AASSP High School Assistant Principal of the Year will be recognized in Washington, D.C., as part of the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP) High School Principal of the Year program. There, will join other state winners from across the country and compete for the title of National High School Assistant Principal of the Year, showcasing the exceptional leadership and impact of Alabama’s school administrators on a national stage.
