CLAS Seeks Finance Director
Position: CLAS Finance Director
Salary Range: $65,000 – $80,000 (Competitive)
The Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Finance Director to oversee the financial operations of the organization. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the fiscal integrity, compliance, and efficiency of CLAS while providing professional support to leadership, staff, and members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in financial management (preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of financial statement preparation and general ledger oversight
- Proficiency in Excel
- Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective financial procedures and controls
- High-level auditory, oral, and written communication skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with members, business partners, colleagues, and the public
- Working knowledge of investment accounts and their related journal entries
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Responsibilities
- Oversee general ledger and financial statement preparation
- Reconcile and maintain accounts with proper documentation
- Prepare and process journal entries accurately and timely
- Manage cash flow and account reconciliations
- Oversee check deposits and ensure accuracy of payments posted across varied software platforms
- Prepare financial reports for leadership and stakeholders
- Reconcile accounts receivable and coordinate collections
- Oversee payroll administration for the organization
- Serve as the primary liaison with auditors, ensuring timely audits and documentation readiness
- Supervise staff in the finance department and support their professional growth
- Provide strategic insight and assist with sound financial decisions for the organization
- Maintain a positive public image while representing CLAS in all interactions
- Work well in a collegial fashion with a team of collaborative professionals
- Assist with conferences and other association-related events as needed
- Utilize Sage accounting software in daily operations
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director
Additional Information
- Reports To: The Executive Director of CLAS
- Evaluation: The Finance Director will be evaluated annually by the Executive Director
