Morgan County Schools
Principal: Mr. Jared Miner
Superintendent: Mrs. Tracie Turrentine

The Write the Right Way program at Eva School began in the 2023-2024 school year with a strategic focus on improving students’ reading and writing abilities. The program incorporated writing and reading across kindergarten through third grades through collaborative writing projects, sentence expansion exercises, peer review and editing, and writing prompts. The Literacy Act placed a stronger emphasis on improving literacy in third-grade students, and the school staff monitored those students very closely. The most notable progress of the Write the Right Way initiative was seen in Eva School’s third-grade students’ performance on the ACAP (Alabama Comprehensive Assessment Program) test. In the 2022-2023 school year, 86% of the school’s third-grade students scored at proficiency level. However, in the 2023-2024 school year, Eva School’s third graders achieved 100% proficiency—a remarkable 14% growth in just one year. The program’s success is evident not only in test scores but also in the enthusiasm and pride shown by students as they developed their skills. Eva School’s achievement was the result of the collaborative efforts of its teachers, students, families, and the broader community. Looking ahead, Eva’s faculty and administrators are committed to building on this success and ensuring that every student receives the support needed to continue growing academically.
