R.A.D.A.R. Character Initiative
Macon County Schools
Principal: Mrs. Tiffany Williams
Superintendent: Dr. Melissa Williams

Tuskegee Public School implemented the RADAR Character Initiative as a comprehensive, student-centered framework designed to transform school culture and accelerate academic achievement. RADAR (Respect, Accountability, Discipline, Acceptance, and Responsibility) was embedded into daily instruction and aligned with the school’s Continuous Improvement Plan. Students played a central role in defining the pillars through guided discussions and surveys, creating authentic ownership, leadership, and engagement across grades 4-6. The initiative launched with a school wide House Lottery that fostered inclusivity, leadership, and positive peer relationships. Students participated in bi-weekly House meetings, leadership opportunities, service-learning projects, and academic challenges aligned to school goals. Each House implemented signature initiatives, including mentorship programs, community service partnerships, student-led design teams, and collaborations with local organizations and universities. Unified Insights data dashboards empowered students to monitor attendance, behavior, and academic performance, reinforcing accountability and data-driven decision-making. The RADAR Character Initiative produced measurable and sustained outcomes. Discipline incidents decreased from 103 to 60, reflecting a 41.75% reduction, while out-of-school suspensions declined by more than 42%. Attendance improved by 13 points, academic achievement increased by 10 points, academic growth reached 97.73%, and subgroup performance improved by 40.38 points. These gains contributed to an increased overall state report card score and the removal of targeted assisted status, positioning Tuskegee Public School as a model for student-centered culture, leadership, and academic excellence.
