Attainment, Achievement, and Acceleration: Supporting Adolescent Literacy in Alabama Classrooms
Join Misty Wilson, ARI Beyond Grade 3 Education Specialist, as she leads an exploration of adolescent literacy in Alabama. This session will examine where we are, where we are headed, and what it will take to move literacy attainment, achievement, and acceleration forward for all students.
What do we mean by adolescent literacy? How does it extend beyond foundational skills to include disciplinary reading, academic vocabulary, complex text engagement, and text-dependent writing across content areas?
This professional learning session will also highlight the systems and supports being built to strengthen both teacher capacity and student outcomes statewide. Together, we will examine how aligned instruction, evidence-based practices, and cross-content literacy integration can accelerate learning and close gaps.
Attainment. Achievement. Acceleration. Because adolescent literacy is not an add-on — it is the bridge to college, career, and lifelong success.
