What’s Happening in Special Education Law?  The Year in Review

Presented by: Julie Weatherly

February 9, 2022 – Florence Marriott Shoals
February 10, 2022 – Montgomery Renaissance Hotel
February 11, 2022 – Mobile Riverview Plaza

Although the country has turned most of its attention in the past year to COVID-19, and educators continue to be concerned about the provision of appropriate education to students with disabilities during the aftermath of the pandemic, there has still been considerable activity in special education law that is not COVID-related. Julie Weatherly will provide an update on significant special education “legal happenings” including an overview of relevant court decisions and agency interpretations.

CLAS offers system subscriptions for the Leadership Institute series to school systems. If your system is a paid subscriber, any school system employee can attend at no charge. Non-system subscribers and non-members may attend for a fee. Attendees may earn credit toward a PLU or receive a certificate toward clock hours.

CLAS is closely monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic and will offer the Leadership Institutes virtually, if needed. In accordance with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, face coverings are optional for fully vaccinated individuals unless required by a state or local order or ordinance. Individuals who are not fully vaccinated are asked to use face coverings over their noses and mouths.
