CLAS recognized thirty-one Schools of Distinction across the eight State School Board Districts and announced the 2020 CLAS Banner Schools on Monday, May 3, 2021, during an awards luncheon in Prattville, Alabama. The CLAS Banner School program was created in 2001 to recognize schools in Alabama that showcase outstanding programs and service to students. Each school was nominated for this award by their superintendent with 138 school programs nominated statewide.

Chickasaw Elementary School, Chickasaw City Schools; Clark-Shaw Magnet Middle School, Mobile County Public Schools; E. R. Dickson Elementary School, Mobile County Public Schools; and Nora Mae Hutchens Elementary School, Mobile County Public Schools were selected as 2020 CLAS Schools of Distinction from State School Board District 1 with E. R. Dickson Elementary School named as the 2020 CLAS Banner School.

Jerry Lee Faine Elementary School, Dothan City Schools; Lakewood Elementary School, Phenix City Schools; Lakewood Primary School, Phenix City Schools; and Webb Elementary School, Houston County Schools were selected as 2020 CLAS Schools of Distinction from State School Board District 2 with Lakewood Primary School named as the 2020 CLAS Banner School.

Berry Middle School, Hoover City Schools; Chelsea High School, Shelby County Schools; Millbrook Middle School, Elmore County Schools; and Sycamore Elementary School, Talladega County Schools were selected as 2020 CLAS Schools of Distinction from State School Board District 3 with Sycamore Elementary School named as the 2020 CLAS Banner School.

Hillcrest High School, Tuscaloosa County Schools; Northridge Middle School, Tuscaloosa City Schools; Southview Elementary School, Tuscaloosa City Schools; and University Place Elementary School, Tuscaloosa City Schools were selected as 2020 CLAS Schools of Distinction from State School Board District 4 with Hillcrest High School named as the 2020 CLAS Banner School.

From State School Board District 5, Demopolis High School of Demopolis City Schools, Francis Marion School of Perry County Schools, Pike Road High School of Pike Road City Schools and Wilson Elementary School of Montgomery Public Schools were selected as 2020 CLAS Schools of Distinction with Francis Marion School named as the 2020 CLAS Banner School.

Gilliard Elementary School, Mobile County Public Schools; Prattville Primary School, Autauga County Schools; R. B. Hudson STEAM Academy, Selma City Schools; and Williamson High and Middle Grades Preparatory Academy, Mobile County Public Schools were selected as 2020 CLAS Schools of Distinction from State School Board District 5 with R. B. Hudson STEAM Academy named as the 2020 CLAS Banner School.

KDS DAR Elementary School, Marshall County Schools; Ohatchee High School, Calhoun County Schools; and Sparkman Elementary School, Morgan County Schools were selected as 2020 CLAS Schools of Distinction from State School Board District 6 with Sparkman Elementary School named as the 2020 CLAS Banner School.

From State School Board District 8, Glencoe Middle School of Etowah County Schools, Liberty Middle School of Madison City Schools, Mill Creek Elementary School of Madison City Schools, and New Century Technology High School of Huntsville City Schools were selected as 2020 CLAS Schools of Distinction with Mill Creek Elementary School named as the 2020 CLAS Banner School.

Haleyville Center of Technology, Haleyville City Schools; Harlan Elementary School, Florence City Schools; Kilby Laboratory School, Florence City Schools; and Tuscaloosa Magnet Schools – Elementary, Tuscaloosa City Schools were selected as 2020 CLAS Schools of Distinction from State School Board District 7 with Harlan Elementary School named as the 2020 CLAS Banner School.

Collins Intermediate20 School, Scottsboro City Schools; James Clemens High School, Madison City Schools; Mae C. Jemison High School, Huntsville City Schools; and Mill Creek Elementary School, Madison City Schools were selected as 2020 CLAS Schools of Distinction from State School Board District 8 with James Clemens High School named as the 2020 CLAS Banner School.
