SUMMARY:2026 January Leadership Institute: Understand my Brain to Understand Me! Turning Trauma Research into Practice
DESCRIPTION:Understand my Brain to Understand Me! Turning Trauma Research into Practice  \nPresented by: Heidy Lefleur\n9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. \n(Lunch on your own 11:00 – 12:30) \nSign-In begins at 8:00 a.m. \nTo take situations from chaos to calm\, we welcome awareness between brain health and behavior by connecting the Social Emotional Alphabet to trauma-brain research. All past experiences\, circumstances\, and stories determine physical and emotional regulation which can be communicated through anger\, defiance and misunderstood intent. Learning the art of responding rather than reacting starts with self-regulation skills\, trauma-brain awareness and a proactive mindset that resets every day. Gain necessary insight into the why behind behavior and learn what you can control with your Actions\, Words & Expressions (AWE) using eight letters of Heidy’s Social Emotional Alphabet. This highly engaging institute will offer opportunities for self-reflection\, discussion with peers\, strategies for self-care\, and actions to help students learn. \n\nFREE for Leadership Institute System Subscribers!\n  \nCLAS offers system subscriptions for the Leadership Institute series to school systems. If your system is a paid subscriber\, any school system employee can attend at no charge. Non-system subscribers and non-members may attend for a fee. Attendees may earn credit toward a PLU or receive a certificate toward clock hours. \n\n\n\nNot a Subscriber/Member of CLAS\n$80\n\n\nNot a Subscriber/Not a Member of CLAS\n$250\n\n\nDistrict Subscriber of Leadership Institute Series\n$0\n\n\n\n  \nSpecial accommodation requests must be submitted to the CLAS Professional Learning office 30 days in advance of the event.
