High School Principal of the Year Finalists Selected

The finalists were chosen from among the district principals of the year. One overall winner will be chosen as the High School Principal of the Year in January.

Point Clear, Ala:  Three high school principals have been selected as finalists for the Alabama High School Principal of the Year Award. Kyle Futral, principal of Holtville High School; Terina Gantt, principal of Demopolis High School; and Seth Taylor, principal of Pleasant Valley High School, are the three finalists for the award.

All three finalists were interviewed by a Principal of the Year selection committee at the 2021 AASSP/AAMSP Fall Conference on November 9. One overall winner will be chosen as the High School Principal of the Year, which will be announced in January.

Each AASSP district selects a district High School Principal of the Year. Three finalists are chosen from the districts’ selections. The district principals of the year were recognized at an awards ceremony at the AASSP/AAMSP Fall Conference on November 9, 2021. The district principals of the year are:

District 1

Arnold Cox, Chickasaw High School, Chickasaw City

District 2

Joshua Herring, Ariton School, Dale County

District 3

Terina Gantt, Demopolis High School, Demopolis City

District 4

Kyle Futral, Holtville High School, Elmore County

District 5

April Brand, Helena High School, Shelby County

District 6

Seth Taylor, Pleasant Valley High School, Calhoun County

District 7N

Jeff Burbank, Brooks High School, Lauderdale County

District 7S

Davey Reed, Haleyville High School, Haleyville City

District 8

Willie Moore, Athens High School, Athens City
