Dr. Adam Clemons, principal of Piedmont High School, has been named District 6      High School Principal of the Year.

Dr. Clemons is a seventh-generation Alabamian and third-generation educator who was born and raised in Madison County, Alabama.  He graduated from Buckhorn High School in New Market, Alabama.  He earned an undergraduate degree from Auburn University, a M.Ed. from Jacksonville State University, and an Ed.S. and Ed.D. from Argosy/Sarasota University. He is the former President of the Calhoun County Principals and Coaches Association and serves on the Executive Board of Auburn Christian Fellowship at Auburn University.

"It is a great honor and privilege to be selected by my colleagues as the District Six High School Principal of the Year. Our success at Piedmont High School comes from the hard work of our students, faculty, and staff. This recognition has much more to do with what we have accomplished as a team than any contribution I have made as an individual," stated Dr. Clemons.

Dr. Clemons has presented at conferences and events for the National Association of Secondary School Principals, Education Week, Apple, Inc., Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools, Alabama Department of Education, Jacksonville State University CORE, Professional Association of Georgia Educators, and other institutions for educational purposes. He has written articles for and been published by the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools, Hometown Headlines, and The Auburn Plainsman. Dr. Clemons is married to a speech-language pathologist. They have five children and are members of the First Baptist Church of Piedmont.

Each of the eight Alabama Association of Secondary School Principal (AASSP) districts nominate a principal within their district for the award. Clemons will be interviewed by a selection committee at the 2019 AASSP/AAMSP Fall Conference, November 10-13, where the top three finalists will be announced. The winner of Alabama’s High School Principal of the Year award will be named in January.

The Alabama High School Principal of the Year Award is sponsored by the Alabama Association of Secondary School Principals and American Fidelity.
