Alabama Literacy Act:  Prevention, Retention, Now What? 

This session will explore how literacy leaders can use knowledge from LETRS for Administrators to support students who were retained in grade three or promoted due to a Good Cause Exemption based on the Alabama Literacy Act.  Participants will discuss structures for the school to inform practices, processes and the overall strength of services delivered to improve reading achievement.

Extended Learning: What Happens Beyond the Hours of 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Matter

The Alabama State Department of Education (ASLDE) understands that quality learning and enrichment opportunities for children and youth beyond the school day matter. As the state moves forward with partnering with districts to support these quality opportunities, we are creating collaborative teams within and among the section of the ALSDE and other entities that impact our school communities. These updates will share resources and research around expanded learning.

Interventions - Aligning School Counseling Program Intervention

Implementing evidence-based school-wide academic, behavior, and foundational wellness interventions continue to increase academic achievement, reduce behavior incidents, and improve physical and mental health/wellness student outcomes. It's High Time! Managing Textbooks Like Clockwork

Time...can be a leader's greatest challenge, as busy administrators juggle their various responsibilities. Managing yearly processes effectively & efficiently allows leaders to give MORE of their time to the people & projects that need them most. This session will help district leaders with the processes and steps involved in ordering & receiving textbooks once decisions have been made.  An emphasis will be placed on proactive strategies which can help leaders be more efficient with their time and cost effective with one of their district's most significant investments. Cash for College:  2024 FAFSA Updates

Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a key step in pursuing and affording college. The new FAFSA cycle opened in December, and district/school leaders are supporting high school seniors as they apply for financial aid. This session will provide recent updates to 2024 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) submission/processing and next steps for helping ensure students are able to finance their post-secondary goals and dreams.
