This program is specifically designed for new principals, allowing time for collaboration with other first-year principals during round table discussions led by an experienced mentor principal.  The focus of the training is on the pitfalls of the principalship.  Topics will include special education, financial accounting, student achievement, hiring, firing, and the importance of documentation.  Each presentation will end with a question and answer period, allowing for brainstorming and collaboration.  This professional development opportunity can be applied to Standard III: Human Resource Development or Standard VII: Management of the Learning Organization.

Aspiring Administrators Conference PDF Print E-mail

The Aspiring Administrators Conference will follow the program by NAESP: 21st Century Principalship-Getting the Job Done Right! Experienced administrators will lead these workshops and equip aspiring leaders with the tools needed to be effective leaders.  They will review studies about the current roles and responsibilities of the principal, examine and affirm their own professional talents and interests, and map personal career plans.  Workshops and activities will focus on developing an effective resume, developing strategies for a winning interview, and the skills effective leaders need to be successful.  This event counts as one activity toward a PLU in Standard VII: Management of the Learning Organization.

Principals can accomplish more as instructional leaders by sharing leadership and decision-making with others.  Shared leadership empowers teacher leaders and school leadership teams to do more to improve instruction than one individual can accomplish alone.  You will not want to miss this two-day training, implementation of activities, and opportunity to collaborate with other administrators.  Participants will view and discuss examples of effective learning communities and identify strategies for building the Professional Learning Community in your school.  Attendance on both days is required to receive credit.  This event can be used as one activity for Standard I: Planning for Continuous Improvement or Standard IV: Diversity.

The annual CLAS Secretary's Conference is one of the only professional development opportunities offered to school secretaries and bookkeepers.  Keynote speakers and special guests provide motivational and inspirational messages geared specifically for the support roles of secretaries and bookkeepers.  Breakout sessions provide information and updates related to their day-to-day tasks.  This conference is an economical way to hear from interesting speakers, sharpen skills, and become more efficient in the educational administrative field.

The theme for this convention is “Celebrate! Educate! Motivate!”  Come celebrate forty years of quality conventions.  Our Convention features nationally reknowned speakers and quality content.  If you began working on a PLU in Standard I: Planning for Continuous Improvement or Standard VII: Management of the Learning Organization, this Convention will host the follow-up to these activities and afterward you’ll receive a PLU(s), provided all requirements are met.  Other PLU opportunities will be offered.
